English Standard Version
Ps. 27: 5 “For He will hide me in His shelter in the day of trouble; He will conceal me under the cover of His tent; He will lift me high upon a rock”.
High upon a rock, out of reach, that is the how the Lord will protect you!
If we read the story of David and how he had to hide from his enemies and even his family, we will have an understanding of what David is illustrating.
He is not only using this as a metaphor, but he was speaking from personal experience.
Regardless of experiencing very hard times and difficult circumstances, the Lord kept him out of reach the reach of his enemies.
If the Lord did it for David, He can do it for you.
A rock is a symbol of steadfastness and of a firm foundation. It speaks of stability and being grounded. David is not only praying that he would be “out of reach”, but he is also praying that he will be grounded on a firm foundation.
That is what I felt in my heart while we were walking on Table Mountain. I had this absolute awareness within me that the Lord protected me so many occasions, that I can hardly tell!
There came this assurance within me, that “all will be well”, that feeling that though things around us sometimes seem to spiral desperately out of control, our foundation is in the Lord, our stability is in the Lord, we are grounded on His Word. That very knowledge and unvarying faith set the ball in motion for God to miraculously provide for us!
