My favourite saying of worship is:
“Worship Regardless of”
It is easy to worship while everything around you is smooth sailing, but to worship when your boat is sinking, and there is a storm around and about you, it is a sacrificial choice. I am not talking about that worship when you quickly fall on your knees crying out for help …. Just “life” worship.
You are in the Titanic, and every possible thing that could go wrong, did go wrong all at the same time! Iceberg, fire in the sleeping quarters, it is freezing cold, you cannot find you way back to your family – there is no more lifeboats left and all you can do is to wait and see how this storm will pass. And it will…and you know it will…it is just taking so long, draining you physically, emotionally and spiritually. Get the picture, then you still worship.
“Worship Regardless of“
I have no idea who will be reading this and also not what circumstances you are facing. I can only give you my perspective on how I “kept my sanity”! To describe it to somebody who has never been confronted with such severe circumstance is hardly possible. Using the Titanic as an example…. iceberg, fire, alone and drowning, then out of nowhere while you are freezing in the ice water, debris hits you and you can feel how you are losing consciousness. Don’t worry I’m not “having a depro day” LOL! Yeah, I’ve been there, and I know how it feels when the only comfort is the handful of people that are willing to look past these dreadful situations and see your heart.
One morning I was at the verge of giving up, down and out and in way over my head and everything was going in a different direction than what I have anticipated, and “a friend” came for coffee. While I was in this absolute hectic time he said, don’t think for one moment you are something special, that out of the whole world God had chosen you to go through all of this so that you can one day miraculously recover, you are nothing so special. At that moment all that I could do was to cry, and I did, especially after he had left. I was fully aware of the fact, that each person has been handcrafted by God for a specific reason and a specific season to make a difference! At that moment, I was overwhelmed with fear, regret and humiliation that I couldn’t stand up for myself.
What has this to do with worship – everything, because how you react to the circumstance, how you react to the comment is your responsibility. Joyce Meyer said that you will never be held responsible for what people do or say to you, but you are 100% responsible for how you react to it. When the storm is all over you and you are feeling like you are not going to make it, start to worship by choosing your words and your actions with worshipping of the Lord in mind.
Worship is our response, both personal and corporate, to God for who He is and for what He has done. It is expressed in and by the things we say and the way we live!
I did what I knew to do the best and that was to bow even lower before the Living Son of God, you see, worship is not just about singing in church, and definitely not confined to a Sunday service, Worship is when everything you are reacts to everything God is, in every situation! The lower you bow, the deeper you can go into His presence. Suddenly you reach a position where you can worship for an audience of one!!
I SING FOR AN AUDIENCE OF ONE
