How to fix stinking thinking
Some things are more time consuming than other. To change a lifestyle or to have a mind shift regarding a specific problem issue area in your life is going to cost you hard work.
It is like a fairy tale Make-over. After this Make-over someone has to maintain the results, and that someone is the “Make-over candidate!” In exactly the same manner that you need to uphold that change, that new hairstyle, the new look – with the same effort you uphold a “mind-shift”. It is easy to let go and to fall into the trap of “poor me”, “living in the past” etc but to renew your mind is hard work.
If you decided to change your mind or to make a mind shift regarding say for instance your health or weight you have to purposely choose to fill your mind with positive thoughts. It will not do you any good to think about a cream donut or delicious cheddar melting steak with chips! No! You need to fill your mind with a good book or do an outdoor activity, but do not accommodate thought on fantastic foods! It is actually a no-brainer! I know it is a kind of basic or “general” example, but if we can get the basics right – the rest will be easy.
Having battled with low self worth and inferiority I know how difficult it is to change the way that you are thinking about yourself and other people, because your thoughts work like a filter that filters everything you hear, see and can cause you to make assumptions that are hardly ever the truth, it is just your understanding about what you heard or see.
This is a process! It will take time, take one step at a time and don’t be discouraged if you slip. Just don’t keep ion that position of “stinking thinking”, go and watch a movie – get a change in scenery and try again. In due time you will have a breakthrough and one day you will realize “Wow!” I really do have a new Mind set.
Mary Englebreit: “If you don’t like something change it: if you can change it, change the way you think about it.”
There is the dynamic principle in life, the right action follows right thinking.
Joyce Meyer wrote: “You will not change your behavior until you change your thoughts”.
If food is your problem – don’t encourage thought of food
If pornography is your problem – don’t entertain images of “Prince Charming”
If inferiority is your battle – fill your mind with thoughts of the greatness of creation
You get the picture, no person can change the mind of another person but I can tell you about the amazing results that you will and can experience once your breakthrough the filter of stinking thinking. Thinking is learned behavior: we learn from family, friends, past events etc. and this thought process will keep you emotionally stuck until you decide to do something about it.
Elizabeth Gilbert: “You need to learn how to select your thoughts just the same way you select your clothes every day. This is a power you can cultivate. If you want to control things in your life so bad, work on your mind. That’s the only thing you should be trying to control.
Me: “Take one single thing and change your thought process about it. Practice it constantly! Write it down and repeat it when you wake up and before you go to bed, until you have created a new thought process.
