In the Grip of Anxiety Disorder…
I can hardly remember the first time that I had a Panic Attack but as this disorder progressed or increased in my life, I can tell you that it is Real and you experience Real Pain!
The first few times was like a light pressing on my chest that lasted for a few minutes and then I was just tired.
Then the intensity changed and this started to happen more frequently sometimes lasting up to 45 minutes. It is as if your ribs are going to be crushed or like an elephant stepped on your chest. I remembered bending over the bath crying of pain. This pain was always followed by extreme tiredness.
Charles Spurgeon said: “Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength”
I knew that the Lord was in control of my life and that if I called upon Him, He would answer. But at that stage, He felt very very far away.
I needed help, so for the next few months, which turned into a year or two, I had to use medication to help me control my anxiety.
Looking back over the past few years I would strongly advise any person to GET HELP as soon as possible. Don’t let circumstances dictate the quality of your life. You can get over this disorder even if it means getting medical help. You can win this battle!
